thank you

for sharing new "music" with me :)

i finally got around to putting this song on the ipod and here are some things the girls had to say about it:

"that's creepy!"
lilli whimpered...i changed it. a few songs later...including this fun one:

the girls asked to hear the "creepy song" again.
lilli asked me if it was a giant singing the song.
kaely thought it sounded more like a dragon.
elise was just trying to figure out what the guy was saying, while playing air guitar.
i think they like it.

here are a few things...

the other day, we went to lunch at a neat greek restaurant. the girls ordered burgers (of course). lillian watched her sisters make ketchup smiley faces on their burgers and then made her own. she was so proud of herself! :)

this type of cheese is calorie free!

the bright side of having work done on the van is that their "shuttle" is actually a "limo". who doesn't love showing up to work in style ;)

later that same day...

art show! no limo ride, though. the van is all fixed (drama drama drama). elise had several pieces in the show. kaely didn't have any this year. i was disappointed that she didn't get as much time for art this year. she used that time for the math club thing...and she had fun, so that's what matters.

hooray for elise! :)

note to self:

add text messages to new phone, so i can continue to get awesome text messages such as"this group reminded me of us. because there are 3, not because jenny is past her bloom :)"

thanks, anne.

so the theme of "yardwork" continues. this weekend i attempted to remove a dead bush. i was pretty sure it was dead a few months ago, but i wanted to make sure it was really really dead.

saturday morning i meandered on over to the bush and started digging around it...only to realize that i had no clue how to go about removing a dead bush. it's bigger than a weed. i think it's like original equipment to the house...it's old and the root system is complicated. oh and there are bricks strategically placed around the base. i also know why it is dead and let's just throw that in the category of "nature is gross".
so, hours of sawing and digging later, i determine that i need power tools...and lunch. lunch is easy...no kids, i can do what i like (woot). but the power tools (and the person who knows how to use them) are in georgia. sigh... dad thinks he can come in a few weeks. i'm going to keep trying, though...cos that durn thing looks ridiculous!

kaely sang her first solo in church this morning. i cried. so proud of that kid! i need to edit out the end of what i recorded, though. as soon as she was done singing i kinda dropped the camera in my lap... it's a bit silly, but there i am.

put on your hard hat

cos i was wielding a hammer today...
dad came this weekend to repair my poor little fence. we've had some dogs wander into the yard and bother the girls and simon needs more room to roam. so now the backyard is completely fenced in :)

that part...yeah, all of those pickets...i nailed those suckers on.

all by myself! that part ^ right there!

anyway, dad came to check on me and see how many nails i had. he said "how are your nails?" so i whipped off my glove and announced "they are a little dirty, but i haven't broken any yet." heh. he didn't realize that i was kidding and he looked really confused. i assured him that i had plenty of nails and he grabbed a handful and was headed back to his side of the yard when the funny hit him and he just stood there and laughed :)

so we closed in the one side of the yard and added a gate to the other.

here's dad's side of the fence.i ended up jammed in the corner, trying to not step on the flowers and, at the same time, squat down to drive the nail into the lower part of the picket. i said "dad, i'm stuck!" and he said "well, i'll get the drill." what?! so he drilled the rest of the fence.

kaely and elise went on their first "surprise suitcase weekend" trip with the children's fellowship at church. parents are given a list of what the children need and the time to drop off the children.
right before the church van pulled out of the parking lot, we were given a sealed envelope with the agenda :) the girls were so excited!

lilli and i had fun taking care of the grandson of one of the choir members (she is quite ill and in the hospital). so i lost 2, but gained 1 for the weekend :)
it is weird (kinda) taking care of a baby. he's a good baby, but the girls are just about to smother him with attention. it's cute and stressful!

the letter this week is "o"

at the preschool, lilli has to bring in something for show and tell that starts with the letter of the week. we usually put a couple of things in the little bag. this week, we found her little ostrich from the little people set and then i remembered that i have a great ostrich picture

so we looked for it. couldn't find it :( it's obviously saved on the computer, but i didn't have time to print a copy. meanwhile, lilli noticed this picture

and oohed and ahhed over the kitty. i told her it was a picture of papaw, and papaw is grandad's daddy...he's old. wait! old is an "o" word! i asked lilli if she wanted to bring the picture as show and tell and she did.

heh

of course, she forgot who was in the picture and why she even brought the picture by the time show and tell rolled around, but when i picked her up, i explained it to her teachers and they found it all as amusing as i do.

so, i want to share this with my grandparents. i called mom to run it by her...i don't want my sense of humor to offend anyone (you knew i had to throw that in there, liz). mom thinks it will be fine, but i may have to water it down and leave out the "old" part.

i just posted a link to the photo album from the cave that dan and i visited. it was pretty cool :) i even let dan hold my actual camera and take his own actual photos...whoa. the whole trip was fantastic and i can't wait to visit again :)
